Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra Performs World Classic "Peter and the Wolf"

 

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra (DCSO), celebrating 10 years as the first and only national children’s symphonic orchestra of Turkey, prepares for a special concert to commemorate the National Sovereignty and Children's Holiday of April 23rd. DCSO will perform famous Russian composer Sergei Sergeevich Profokiev's orchestral work "Peter and the Wolf" twice at the TİM Maslak Show Center on Sunday, April 19 at 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. The orchestra will be led by Conductor Rengim Gökmen, and Director Murat Göksu will be responsible for stage adaptation of "Peter and the Wolf." The adorable child star Emir Berke Zincidi is cast as Peter, and prominent actor Selçuk Yöntem will be the narrator.

Russian composer Sergei Sergeevich Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf," a symphony for children, will be performed by Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra, the first and only national children's symphonic orchestra in Turkey. DCSO will perform twice on Sunday, April 19 to commemorate the National Sovereignty and Children's Holiday of April 23rd. The performances will take place at the TİM Maslak Show Center at 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. Led by Conductor and Musical Director Professor Rengim Gökmen, the Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra will appeal to audiences of all ages with "Peter and the Wolf."

The role of Peter will be played by child star Emir Berke Zincidi, known for his roles in Turkish TV series ‘Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki’ and ‘Küçük Ağa.’

Famous actor Selçuk Yöntem, as narrator, will bring a unique take on "Peter and the Wolf."

Director Murat Göksu adapted the symphonic recital as a play for theater. "Peter and the Wolf" is the tale of young Peter and his hilarious, exciting adventures with animals. DCSO players will bring the animals to life with their musical instruments. With the bird narrated by the flute, duck by the oboe, and cat by the clarinet, the 45-minute recital will be an unforgettable memory for children.

Alongside Conductor Professor Rengim Gökmen and Director Murat Göksu, the costume and scenery for the show was designed by Ali Mete Alkoç. DCSO will appeal to audiences of all ages with "Peter and the Wolf," which has been performed all over the world to date.

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra is a part of the Doğuş Group of Companies, and was founded in 2006.

Led by Conductor and Musical Director Professor Rengim Gökmen, the Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra is composed of conservatory students between the ages of 11 and 18. The objective of the Orchestra is to enable the youth of Turkey experience symphonic music through their peers, and to promote universal polyphonic music in Turkey.

The Orchestra accompanied many Turkish and international musicians in their concerts. The Orchestra also appeared with the Presidential Symphonic Orchestra of Turkey in a number of projects.

DÇSO has been performing nationwide since 2006, and has been representing Turkey on an international level since 2008.

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra received “Best Corporate Social Responsibility” award in the 2013 Ace Of M.I.C.E. (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Awards in 29 categories with 230 entrants. The Orchestra performed 56 concerts in 3 countries (Turkey, Germany and Switzerland) and 24 provinces, reaching more than 65,000 people. So far, the Orchestra has performed in the Turkish provinces of Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Balıkesir, Bodrum, Eskişehir, Erzurum, Giresun, İstanbul, İzmir, Kars, Kayseri, Konya, Mersin, Niğde, Rize, Samsun, Trabzon, Bursa and Edirne, as well as Basel, Switzerland and Munich, Germany.

DCSO plans to take part in more international concerts in the years to come, making the voice of contemporary Turkish youths heard on both nationwide and global levels.
