Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra Reached Two Thousand Music Lovers in the First Concert of the Year with Leading Violinist Cihat Aşkın

 

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra's first performance in 2015 took place in Izmir.

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra (DCSO), the first and only national children’s symphonic orchestra of Turkey, celebrated its 10th year with music lovers in Izmir. DCSO continues to make headlines with concerts in Turkey and around the world, and accompanied the renowned Turkish violinist Cihat Aşkın for the first concert of the year. DCSO performed for an audience of almost two thousand at the Hikmet Şimşek Arts Center (former Karşıyaka Theater and Opera Hall) on Friday, January 30, and at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center on Saturday, January 31.

Founded in 2006 within the Doğuş Group as the first and only national children’s symphonic orchestra of Turkey, and composed of nationwide conservatory students between the ages of 11 and 18, the Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra performed for the lovers of classical music in Izmir on January 30th and 31st.

Led by Conductor and Musical Director Professor Rengim Gökmen, the 90 musicians of DÇSO performed at the Hikmet Şimşek Arts Center (former Karşıyaka Theater and Opera Hall) on Friday, January 30, and at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center on Saturday, January 31. Staying true to DCSO's objective of enabling youth to experience symphonic music through their peers, and to promote universal polyphonic music, both events had free admission.

DCSO reached over 60 thousand people in 56 concerts around the world, and performed with leading Turkish pianists Fazıl Say and Gülsin Onay, famous violin virtuoso Alexander Markov, and legendary guitarist José Maria Gallardo Del Rey. Celebrating its 10th year in Izmir, the Orchestra accompanied leading violinist Cihat Aşkın. The repertoire ranged from Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony to Ulvi Cemal Erkin's Concerto for Violin.

DCSO took on a remarkable task of promoting classical music to children and teenagers through their peers, and reached an audience of all ages in Izmir.

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra is a part of the Doğuş Group of Companies, and was founded in 2006.

Led by Conductor and Musical Director Professor Rengim Gökmen, the Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra is composed of conservatory students between the ages of 11 and 18. The objective of the Orchestra is to enable the youth of Turkey experience symphonic music through their peers, and to promote universal polyphonic music in Turkey.

The Orchestra accompanied many Turkish and international musicians in their concerts. The Orchestra also appeared with the Presidential Symphonic Orchestra of Turkey in a number of projects.

DÇSO has been performing nationwide since 2006, and has been representing Turkey on an international level since 2008.

Doğuş Children’s Symphonic Orchestra received “Best Corporate Social Responsibility” award in the 2013 Ace Of M.I.C.E. (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Awards held by the Tourism Media Group in 29 categories with 230 entrants. The Orchestra performed 56 concerts in 3 countries (Turkey, Germany and Switzerland) and 22 provinces, reaching more than 60,000 people. So far, the Orchestra has performed in the Turkish provinces of Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Balıkesir, Bodrum, Eskişehir, Erzurum, Giresun, İstanbul, İzmir, Kars, Kayseri, Konya, Mersin, Niğde, Rize, Samsun, Trabzon, Bursa and Edirne, as well as Basel, Switzerland and Munich, Germany.

The Orchestra plans to take part in more international concerts in the years to come, making the voice of contemporary Turkish youths heard on both nationwide and global levels
