Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra (DÇSO) And ÇHGM Children's Choir Performed During A Special Concert In Konya, On The Occasion Of National Sovereignty And Children's Day…

 

GM Children's Choir and Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra came together with children through their special April 23 concert. The classical music concert was performed with the participation of 52 child performers from ÇHGM Children's Choir and 35 from DÇSO, and offered the invitees an entertaining couple of hours. The concert was organized in Konevi Cultural Center of Konya Meram Municipality as part of "TRT's 34th April 23 Children's Festivities". Children coming to watch the concert had the opportunity to accompany numerous songs, composed especially for children, from Muammer Sun's İnatçı İki Keçi (Two Stubborn Goats) to Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Nevit Kodallı's Telli Turna (Demoiselle Crane).

ÇHGM Children's Choir and Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra (DÇSO) gave a special concert for the children of Konya on the occasion of April 23. DÇSO, being Turkey's first children's orchestra and Child Services General Directorate (ÇHGM) Choir offered memorable hours to all music lovers young and old alike with a joint concert. The concert took place in Konya on April 22, as part of "TRT's 34th April 23 Children's Festivities".

ÇGHM Children's Choir is founded in order to enable the children -who are under protection and care and selected by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies carrying out chorus performance in their cities- to make themselves heard and reinforce their self-confidence by demonstrating their talents. The Choir took the stage together with Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra operating within Doğuş Children’s, being Doğuş Group's social platform. Two group together performed the repertory, composed specially for April 23.

Various popular children's songs from Muammer Sun's Two Stubborn Goats to Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Nevit Kodallı's Demoiselle Crane were performed in the special concert where ÇHGM Children's Choir participated with a total of 52 children (19 from Ankara, 13 from Mersin, 6 from Samsun and 14 from Adana) and DÇSO with 35 children. All invited children enjoyed moments of pleasure during the special April 23 concert given under the baton of Conductor Tolga Taviş where they accompanied the pieces performed by the chorus and orchestra.

About ÇHGM Children's Choir:

A cooperation protocol has been concluded by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in order to allow children and youngsters, who are under protection and care, receive musical training as well as ballet training in line with their talents. As part of the mentioned protocol, chorus activities, initiated with the children and youngsters, who are under protection and care, keep going in cities including Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin and Samsun where General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet and its related provincial directorates are present.

In parallel with these endeavors, it is targeted to let children perform symphonic music with their peers and enable them to become role models for other children by giving concerts on various platforms at home and abroad as well as ensuring that they accomplish their psychological and social developments in a healthy manner by orienting them to individual or collective social activities to the extent of their talents; thereby having them raised as happy, peaceful individuals who look to the future with hope.

About Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra;

Operating within Doğuş Children’s, the social responsibility platform of Doğuş Group, Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra was established in 2006. Comprising conservatory students between 11 and 17, Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra performs under the direction of Conductor and General Musical Director Prof. Rengim Gökmen. The Orchestra aims to popularize universal polyphonic classical music in our country by introducing symphonic music to Turkish children as performed by their peers.

Performing concerts in Turkey's various locations since 2006, DÇSO also started to represent Turkey on the international arena as of 2008. Within this scope, the Orchestra, having performed at the Presidential Palace in honor of Queen Elizabeth's visit to Turkey, gave its first concert abroad with Attaca Youth Orchestra, within Bavarian State Orchestra, in Munich. Following the concert in Munich, DÇSO also performed in the opening gala of Culturescapes Festival that took place in Basel, Switzerland with Turkey participating as the guest of honor. The Orchestra, which will be concentrating more on overseas concerts in the forthcoming period, aims to represent Turkish children's contemporary voice abroad and on international platforms just as it does nation-wide.
