Preparations for Doğuş Group's second educational complex in Şanlıurfa have commenced...
After actualizing the joint-projects, Ayhan Şahenk Multi-Program High School and Ayhan Şahenk Dormitory for female students; Doğuş Holding and Ayhan Şahenk Foundation implement their second educational complex in Şanlıurfa.
Preparations have commenced for the construction of Ayhan Şahenk Industrial Vocational High School after the protocol was signed in the ceremony held with Ferit F. Şahenk ,Chairman of Doğuş Holding, Hüsnü Akhan, CEO of Doğuş Group, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Karahan Uslu, deputy of Şanlıurfa, Bahri Tiryaki Deputy Governor of Şanlıurfa, and Ahmet Pala, Provincial Director of Education of Şanlıurfa, in attendance. Within the scope of the project, 2 Multi-Purpose Workshop Buildings, Dormitory, Conference Room, Multi-Purpose Sports Hall and 2 Basketball Fields will be built in addition to the Industrial Vocational High School which will be constructed on the plot allocated in Şanlıurfa Merkez Süleymaniye Neighborhood. With the educational complex to be built in Şanlıurfa, it is aimed to provide the region with an educational establishment featuring modern equipment.
Established by Doğuş Group's Founder, Late Ayhan Şahenk in 1992, Ayhan Şahenk Foundation has started preparations for a new educational complex in Şanlıurfa after the two projects, Ayhan Şahenk Multi-Program High School and Ayhan Şahenk Dormitory for female students with a capacity of 200 students it actualized in cooperation with Doğuş Holding.
The signing ceremony for Ayhan Şahenk Industrial Vocational High School was held with Ferit F. Şahenk ,Chairman of Doğuş Holding, Hüsnü Akhan, CEO of Doğuş Group, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Karahan Uslu, deputy of Şanlıurfa, Bahri Tiryaki Deputy Governor of Şanlıurfa, and Ahmet Pala, Provincial Director of Education of Şanlıurfa, in attendance.
With the protocol signed, construction work for the 24 classroom Industrial Vocational High School, 2 Multi-Purpose Workshop Buildings, Dormitory with a capacity of 200 students, Conference Room, Multi-Purpose Sports Hall and 2 Basketball Fields on a plot allocated in Şanlıurfa Merkez Süleymaniye Neighborhood will commence and the entire complex will be donated to the Provincial Directorate of National Education of Şanlıurfa before the start of 2012-2013 school year. Thanks to the dormitory to be built within the body of the high school, students living in counties and villages surrounding Şanlıurfa and having difficulty in going to school due to accommodation requirements will have been offered a great opportunity.
Taking the stage at the signing ceremony organized for the educational complex, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Karahan Uslu pointed to the contributions of private sector and NGO's concerning the rapid progress performed in education and said: ''Turkey has moved forward leaving behind the period where everything was expected from the State. It is beyond doubt that our government has been contributing in the most powerful manner to each and every part of life. And through corporations like Doğuş Group, an even more active social sense of responsibility makes contributions in our country, eventually resulting in a huge social added value demonstrated by examples such as this vocational high school of which I am proud to be conducing today and which will be completed this year. In this context, we would like to tender our thanks on behalf of all our fellow townsmen in Şanlıurfa to Mr. Ferit Şahenk for his contribution to our city. And I strongly believe that the young, qualified, fresh brains to found novel Turkey, whom will be raised in our schools will be the best products of this approach.''
CEO of Doğuş Group, Hüsnü Akhan stated: "We are taking an endless pride in having earned one more educational institution with a modern equipment to our country and Şanlıurfa in cooperation with Doğuş Holding and Ayhan Şahenk Foundation under the light of Mr. Ayhan Şahenk's words: 'The greatest investment is the one made in human beings.'
Noting that it is aimed to enhance the contributions to Şanlıurfa's development in cultural domain by means of social responsibility projects to be actualized by corporations in addition to public investments which rapidly pull through requirements, Akhan added: "In line with this aim, we evaluated the proposal submitted by the Deputy of Şanlıurfa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Karahan Uslu on bringing in a new educational institution to Şanlıurfa and decided to support this proposal. Today, we are so glad to be marking our signature on such a purposeful project together with our Ayhan Şahenk Foundation which Late Ayhan Şahenk founded in 1992 to institutionalize the services he was furnishing to our society."
Since its inception, Ayhan Şahenk Foundation has had 5 Elementary Schools, 1 Multi-Program High School, 1 Anatolian Technical High School, 3 Dormitories, 1 Teachers' Lodging built in various cities all over Turkey and handed them over to the Ministry of National Education. With the schools it has built coming in the first place, the Foundation also carries out maintenance, repair and equipping work of schools across the country which are in need.
